Can we kiss you?
Did you know the ReallyColor technology that you use to convert your photos into coloring pages on any desktop or mobile web browser has two issued U.S. patents behind it? That’s some serious science if we do say so ourselves! Hold on…pat pat pat…<sigh>…our backs feel better now. What…why are you looking at us like that? Sometimes you just have to toot your own horn, ok?
The thing is, though, a cool invention that nobody knows about has no value beyond justifying a pensive stance in the corner of the room with your legs crossed and a pipe hanging out of your mouth implying that you are…so esoteric…so dang unapproachable…so unusually percipient…so freaking elegant, aberrant, and…unafraid of mouth or lung cancer.
A really good invention makes other people say “Maaaaaaaannn…that’s so obvious. Why didn’t I think of that?” A good invention breaks everything down to one simple point…one that everybody “just gets.”
The song for this post is “Simple” by Florida Georgia Line. You can listen to it on Spotify or the music video on YouTube.
It’s five plus five, not rocket science
This day in time, that’s hard to find
It’s true
The road we’re on ain’t a traffic jam
It’s a Sunday drive on a piece of land
While we were building the first prototype, we gave ourselves explicit marching orders: keep it simple, stupid…K.I.S.S. In the end, we decided to give you more control over your own coloring page creations. We applied our invention, and boiled it down to three steps…three EASY steps. Most importantly, we didn’t smoke a thing, at any point, in any way.
As our little project started growing, and as more and more people started making coloring pages, custom coloring books, and buying our gift cards in Toys “R” Us, BJ’s Wholesale, and Sam’s Club, we wanted to kiss each and every one of you. Just a peck on the cheek though, ok? Don’t get any ideas! We don’t want to complicated anybody’s life, remember? We just want to keep it simple, stupid.
It’s like one, two, three
Just as easy as can be
Just the way you look at me
You make me smile
What’s the point of this post? Look…anything is possible. It is true that you need to believe, but you need to be smart about it. Look at it like this: Imagine the first person that decided to sell bottled water to the masses. Now imagine, prior to any success, this person was at a wedding or corporate holiday party, had a few cocktails, and then a co-worker at the party with a lampshade on his or her head, stood on a table and said “I bet somebody could sell more water to fish than we sell to our customers.” The smart (and quiet) person in the room thought “whoa…that’s right…but I mean this idiot is so fired. Can you imagine if we didn’t have to fill up our protein shakers or used coffee mugs with water at the disgusting water fountain before a status meeting? Can you imagine if we had…disposable…water bottles that we could buy whenever we need eggs or milk?”
Now, executing the idea is a whole different thing, but my point is that the lack of convenience of drinking water was boiled down to one simple idea: bottles that you can just throw away (or recycle) when done, filled with water, available in a store near you. If you take a step back and think about it, it’s like selling ice to eskimoes…but it makes people’s lives more convenient and simpler.
Oh, and look, I realize there are parts of the world that don’t have enough water and you can learn a million humanitarian, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial lessons from working on solving those geographically specific challenges. I’m just trying to make a point for people living in the geographically specific location that want to turn their photos into coloring pages and custom coloring books using any possible (but updated) desktop or mobile web browser under the sun. Ok?
So…keep things in your life simple. Simple is smart…simple is successful…simple is peaceful…and simple is definitely NOT stupid.
Ain’t no need to complicate it, we both know that’s overrated
We’ve been there, it’s safe to say it ain’t our style
We’re just simple like a six string
The way this world was meant to be
Like laughin’ love, make a lot out of a little
It’s just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E
Simple as can be
It’s just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E
Simple as can be
