What Are You Doing?!
Why are you just sitting around?! Don’t you know it’s the holidays and you have to go buy…more stuff? You better hurry too, because time is running out!! Oh and the deals…the DEALS…you can’t even imagine the deals. Move it soldier!! Today let’s listen to: “I’m In a Hurry (And Don’t Know Why)” by Alabama. You can listen to it on Spotify and see a lyrics video on YouTube.
I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.
Here’s the thing, though. When it comes to giving gifts, what actually matters? We’ve all gotten so caught up in getting the latest cool toy, finding a good price that, in our minds, saves us more money than not buying anything at all…wait what?!
I hear a voice
That say’s I’m running behind
I better pick up my pace
It’s a race
And there ain’t no room
For someone in second place.
Yes, the holidays are a great time for ReallyColor as a business (yay for us), but we prefer to look at our product as something that encourages the opposite of running around like chickens with our heads cut off just so we can mindlessly spend money on holiday gifts for the sake of buying holiday gifts. ReallyColor custom coloring books are a very personalized and thoughtful one-of-a-kind way to communicate your appreciation and connect with the people around you…the people you love. The time you take to choose the right photos and build your book will be appreciated and can serve as a conversation piece while parking your caboose in a cozy chair in front of the fireplace eating cookies, drinking eggnog, sipping Glühwein, constructing hot chocolate moustaches, and nibbling on cake. Then, when your stomach finally decides to report it is retiring for the night (and that it is not negotiable), you can relax as you color your photos and partake in scintillating intellectual arbitrage with the seven and ten-year-olds around fighting back sugar highs.
How about this year, we take a step back and slow down a bit? Let’s reflect on the year that is about to come to an end, and honor the people that will continue to positively fill our world in the new year. We can remember all the things we did right, let go of the things we did wrong, remember the lessons, forgive more, and take a deep breath and feel content for being exactly where we are supposed to be. That beckoning, distant horizon only we can see, will continue to tease us just enough to keep our hopes alive.
From all of us here at ReallyColor, we wish you the Happiest of Holidays and a Monumental New Year!
